In the October issue of Traditional Home, William Yeoward Crystal’s Olympia stemware looks stately and striking in the brilliant red dining room of a lovingly restored turn-of-the-18th-century estate in Charleston, South Carolina. Originally designed by Frederick Dinkelberg, the architect who is best-known for designed the Flatiron Building, this home had fallen into disrepair before getting not only a renovation but a rejuvenation at the hands of E.E. Fava. This house has a storied history, having been built by a banking magnate for his bride, who after she was widowed ran it for a time as a hotel. In the dramatic dining room, the Olympia Burgundy and Olympia Red Wine glasses used on the table are of a somewhat grand scale befitting their surroundings. They are wonderful glasses for wine lovers, and judging from that lovely wine storage area off of the dining room, the owners are definitely oenophiles! The Olympia Collection, which includes several other glasses, is elegant and refined in its simplicity.
