Alex Papachristidis incorporates WYC in his sumptuous dining room for Kips Bay Show House

It is the last week of the 2016 Kips Bay Show House, so we wanted to make sure to show you Alex Papachristidis‘s fabulous room here in case you don’t get the chance to see it in person.  Thanks to the thoughtful and thorough coverage provided by our friend, design blogger Stacey Bewkes of Quintessence, we are able to share highlights from this room featuring William Yeoward Crystal.

Stacey calls this room a “tour de force of enchanting elegance” which is an apt description of this space and its appointments.  The inspirational starting point was the custom wallpaper by Gracie.  Based on the original design by Elsie de Wolfe for the Condé Nast ballroom, Alex had it blown up to be over scale, which creates a dramatic and lovely backdrop for the rest of the room.

The first vignette we are focusing on is the bar area, which sits atop an 18th century console that once belonged to Mona and Edward von Bismarck.  Paired with a chic gold and silver hombré lamp of Alex’s own design for Christopher Spitmiller, the bar includes William Yeoward Crystal’s Thea Carafes in both the magnum and bottle sizes, as well as Vesta Highball Tumblers (shown upside down on the tray).  Also a Marissa Caviar Server can be seen in the photo showing the entire console,on the left-hand side.

The second area of focus is the dining table.  The stunning contemporary dining table base was designed by ceramic artist Eve Kaplan.  Featured on the table are William Yeoward Crystal’s Anastasia Small Wine and Large Wine glasses, as well as a June Salt Dish.  The notch cutting on the stems of the Anastasia stemware subtly complements the striping on the chargers by Mottahedeh.

There is a lot more of this room to see, including a sitting area with a couch that exudes comfort and fabrics that continue the cool-toned theme, paired with bright brass coffee tables; exquisite chandeliers; stately Roman antiquities; and loads of gorgeous decorative accents.  Click HERE to see more photos and read more about this room at Quintessence.

Congratulations Alex – this room is truly a masterpiece!
